Live longer? Really? Yes, really
And this has been supported by multiple studies. Here are just a few.
- 7,500 elderly Americans were followed for 6 years and those classified as moderate volunteers had the lowest risk of dying in this study by Harris and Thoresen.
- A study of 2,025 older Californians revealed a significant impact on mortality rates. 44% less for those who volunteered regularly and 63% lower for those who volunteered for two or more organizations!
- Marc Musick and colleagues followed 1,211 Americans older than 65 for 7 years. They concluded that volunteering for more than 40 hours a year significantly lowers mortality.
I don’t know about you, but my bucket list is pretty long. I still haven’t tried all 32 flavors at Baskin Robbins!
I need as much time here as I can get. I better get to giving my time, because I want to live as long as possible!
