The tragedy of life is not death but what we let die inside of us while we live. Norman Cousins
What does it cost you not to give?
What connections are you missing out making with others?
What contribution are you not making to the world?
What joy are you not experiencing?
What talent are you saving?
We let these die inside of us for many reasons…. We’re afraid, hurt, angry. We’re trying to be smarter, more talented, and more important. We plan on doing it someday when we have more time. We’re too busy, too broke, and too tired to deal.
And yet being willing to take a risk, to stretch beyond our comfort zones, to touch others’ lives, and to be vulnerable is where the juice of life comes from. It’s what makes us feel alive when we’re alive.
Give, because you’re not writing a tragedy. Your life will be a novel to inspire the ages.
