What you want is irrelevant, what you have chosen is at hand. Spock
When I look back on my life, I want to know that the world was a better place because I was here. I want to look out at those gathered to honor my life and see the faces of people I inspired to believe in themselves. I want to know that I gave others strength and courage and an opportunity to achieve their potential.
But wanting that isn’t going to make that happen. If I stayed focus on my little world and what I need to get out of it, and keep saying, “someday, I’ll have the time, money, and energy to make that happen,” I’ll get to the end of my life and look back with regret.
What I want is irrelevant.
Wanting never got anyone anything.
Today is a result of what I’ve chosen in the past, and my choices today will create my tomorrow. I’m choosing to create a generous, fulfilling life by giving every day. I give myself what I need to be physically, emotionally, and spiritually strong enough to give to others. I give to others my time, attention, and money.
Is what you’re choosing to give going to get you what you want?
