To a large degree, our success and happiness in life depends on how much people like themselves when they’re with us. Joe Caruso
How do you help people feel good about themselves?
One way is to give them appreciation for their positive qualities and the things they really like about themselves. You can praise how their sense of humor helped diffuse a potentially difficult situation. If they love their sense of style, you can acknowledge their gift for matching their clothes to their personality.
You can respect them.
You can love them.
You can lend them a non-judgmental ear.
You can be interested in their hobbies and experiences.
You can value their opinion.
You can publicly acknowledge their successes.
Why do you want people to like themselves when they’re with you?
Because people who feel good about themselves will associate you with good, positive feelings and want to be around you. If people like themselves when they’re around you, they will like you.
If people like you, they might help you out. They might give you a lead for a new job or introduce you to a potential client, or just sing your praises in general. They might invite you to share in great experiences and special events.
Give, because you’ll help people like themselves more and that might just make you more successful and more happy.
