An object at rest tends to stay at rest. An object in motion tends to stay in motion.
A rock at rest becomes covered in dirt and moss. A fleshy object at rest rots.
Humans aren’t meant to stay at rest. If you don’t give something of yourself often enough, your brain, body, and social skills become softer and weaker.
We are meant to grow. Growth happens because we spend time and energy on new skills and old skills, new friends and old friends. We become better, sharper, smarter, and faster because of effort.
Give, because that’s how you keep yourself in motion and that’s how you grow. Growing beats the heck out of rotting.
