We are excited to make our first donation as members of the Veterans Giving Circle. Our members have nominated two charities for us to consider. Our donation committee will research these nonprofits, and then our members will vote on which charity they’d like send our group donation. Individually, we know we can’t donate very much money, but together, we’re proving that a group of people doing something small but doing it consistently is a BIG deal!
Here’s a little about our nominees.
Give An Hour
We’ve learned in our education sessions about the massive need for mental health services by veterans and yet how those services through the VA and military cannot keep up with the demand. Give an Hour focuses on psychological needs provides free mental health services to veterans and their family members. They recruit licensed mental health professional around the country to donate their services for one hour per week. This allows veterans the opportunity to see a licensed mental health provider at no cost to them and in their local communities.
Salute Inc provides a variety of programs to active duty personnel, veterans, and their families. They can provide direct financial assistance to help with the financial hardship that results from deployments, extended active duties, or injuries. In addition, they have collaborated with local health care professionals, builders, and other providers to assist financially with health care and housing adaptations.
