The size of our impact grows as the number of people involved grows. And you are critical to the growth of our giving circle!
What does that mean? It means we are asking you to share your experience with others and to invite people you care about to join you and to join us in making a HUGE impact.
Why would you want to ask others? So they can have the same rewarding experience as you! So they can feel good about donating, about making a smart donation, about giving back and making a big impact on a cause they care about! Invite your friends and family because they won’t have the opportunity to be a part of it unless you let them know about it!
As you share with others about your giving circle, I strongly encourage you to talk from your heart. Your passion and your excitement for what you’re doing and what we’re accomplishing is our most effective salesperson!
How to Invite a Guest
- In a conversation
You’re on the phone with your mother. Your telling her about what’s coming up next week.
You know what’s coming up? I’m meeting with my giving circle. You should join us. I donate $25/month, attend one meeting over the phone, and together we’re donating thousands to pets. It’s great because I get to make a much bigger impact than I could do alone and I feel really good about where I’m donating money. Do you want to check it out?
See? It’s easy. Natural. You might find that they want more information. In which case, send an email with a link to our website and our upcoming meeting details.
You might find that they love the idea. They might be ready to be a part of it right away. In that case, email me with their name and phone number, and I’ll connect with them.
- In an Email
You might want to email your friend or family member. Below are a couple email suggestions, but they may not be in your style. The important thing is to let people know about it, so do what feels good to you.
A short email:
Hey, if you are interested in supporting pets, my giving circle will be getting together soon. We each donate $25/month and we meet once a month via phone. Every quarter we each nominate a charity then we vote on where to send it to.
Already, in just a few months and a handful of members, we’ve collected $1,200! You can check out our website, www.peopleforpetsgivingcircle.com, for more info.
If it’s something you’re interested in, let me know.
A long email:
Hi, Jason. I hope you’re doing well. Have you been doing much traveling for work lately? (personalize the intro accordingly)
I want to invite you to be a part of a giving circle that donates to non-profts ending extreme poverty. You may have heard me talk about these giving circles on FB, so you probably know that each member donates $25/month, we pool that donation, and then every quarter we nominate a few charities to consider and then vote on where to send our much large group donation. Here’s the FAQ on how it all works: http://povertybustersgivingcircle.com/faqs/
You might be wondering why you would want to donate through a giving circle. The short answer is that small donors like us donate more than 200 BILLION dollars ever year, but because we have busy schedules and donate in small amounts over time, our donations don’t make the impact they could be making.
In a giving circle we leverage our time, money, and experience. We’re making larger donations than we could do alone, making smarter donations, and even finding donating more rewarding. It’s an easy, powerful, and fun way to make a big difference with just a little bit of money!

I would love for you to be a part of it. Is it something you might be interested in?
People are busy. They’ve got a lot on their mind. Chances are that they’ve forgotten about your first invite or they haven’t had time to think about it. That’s ok, because you are going to sending them helpful reminders. And I’ll be sending you helpful reminders to send out helpful reminders! Below is an idea of what a friendly reminder looks like.
Remember that giving circle I mentioned? We’ll be getting together next week. We’ll be nominating our non-profits and we’ve got $525 dollars to donate. It’s really simple to be involved ($25/month and one call once per month) and we’re making a HUGE impact for pets. There’s more info at our website if you’re interested, www.peopleforpetsgivingcircle.com.
Would you like to check it out?
Promote on FB/Twitter
Talk about our giving circle on your FB and Twitter pages. Before our meetings, I’ll send you a reminder and some suggestions on what you can post to your social media pages. It takes repetition to build awareness and trust, so feel free talking about it as often as you’d like!
When they say yes
All I need is their name, email, and phone number. I’ll reach out to them and get them set up!
When they say maybe or they stay silent
Continue sending friendly reminders and updates on our impact.
When they say no
Ok, whatever. You don’t need to directly communicate with them about your giving circle. But continue to share with others and with your FB friends about your giving.
